For many years, Kaori Nasu has captivated many people with her gentle, delicate touch and heartwarming colors in the world of book illustrations and magazines. The theme of this exhibition is Mount Fuji, a symbol of Japan and a source of faith and artistic inspiration for people since ancient times.
As the artist herself says, her depictions of Mount Fuji are not simply landscape paintings. Through Nasu's filter, Mount Fuji is intertwined with the activities of life that unfold at its base. Delicately blooming flowers, adorable animals, and our own human lives. These all coexist with Mount Fuji, weaving a rich story amid the warm, soft colors of each painting.
The artist's distinctive soft colors give the majesty of Mount Fuji a familiar warmth and a radiance of life, as if shedding light on the countless stories that live at its foot, stories that we often overlook.
We hope that this exhibition will be a valuable opportunity to experience the charm of Mount Fuji as seen through the eyes of artist Nasu Kaori. We hope you will enjoy this tranquil yet vibrant world.
I have always been fascinated by the sight of Mount Fuji.
Depending on where you view it, Mount Fuji shows a wide variety of different faces.
It is surrounded by a wide variety of scenery, and you can enjoy the changing colors with the seasons.
I sometimes paint Mount Fuji itself, but by combining it with motifs such as living creatures and lovely flowers, a new story emerges within the painting. The area around Mount Fuji is not only filled with the lives of humans, but also with the lives of many other living creatures, adding color to the mountain. It is precisely because it is surrounded by so many flowers that I feel the urge to paint it.
